Alessandro is a Chartered Engineer and PhD Researcher of the Through Life Engineering Service Centre (TES) EPSRC and WAAMMat Programme of Cranfield University.
He is currently pursuing a PhD in Systems Engineering titled “Modelling Applications of Additive Manufacturing in Defence Support Services” at Cranfield University sponsored by Babcock International (£87,000 fund). He has developed a Decision Support System (DSS) to assess the costs and benefits of Additive Manufacturing applications in the Defence sector which has been “Commended for Excellence” by the UK Council of Electronic Business (UKCeB).
He was a Postgraduate Researcher of Rolls Royce Aerospace & Defence working on “Configuration Optimisation of Next Generation Aircraft” (CONGA) a multi-million Industrial Research Project involving also EADS and Airbus Operations.
Previously he was a Project Coordinator for Stilmas Spa a leading engineering and manufacturing firm specialised in Water Systems for the Pharmaceutical sector. He was managing project executions ranging from £1 Million to £10 Million in Italy, Russia, Indonesia, China and India. He started his career at 20 as a certified welder for manual and automatic processes (TIG and GTAW) for Stainless Steel AISI 304 and 316L.
He holds an MSc in Manufacturing Systems and a BA in International Management with specialisation in Operations Research. He is a member of the IMEchE, IE&T and INCOSE and is currently pursuing the Chartered Scientist (CSci) status with the Institute of Science & Technology (IST).
