Dr Charrett is a Lecturer in Optical Sensors in Engineering Photonics at Cranfield University, an internationally recognised team that undertakes research into novel optical instrumentation and sensors to solve challenging measurement problems in engineering and biomedical applications.

His current research interests include the development and application of novel laser speckle, flow measurement, and interferometric instrumentation. He is involved in the WAAMMat program, investigating the application of optical sensing techniques to manufacturing robotics.
