Dr Romali Biswal

Structural integrity, AM process development, materials
Work position: Research Fellow in Laser Additive Manufacture
Category: Researchers

Dr. Romali Biswal is managing the in-process cold working research in our centre, which enhances the mechanical properties of large-scale additive manufacture parts. Her expertise is in structural integrity assessment of AM components (fracture mechanics, finite element modelling) and is working on projects in the field of shielding, cold working, high deposition rates and laser processing of titanium alloys. She has more than 4 years of teaching and research experience at Cranfield University.

Romali got her PhD from Coventry University and her thesis was titled ‘Impact of porosity defects of structural integrity of additive manufactured titanium alloys’. Before obtaining her PhD, she worked as a research scientist at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research in India.
