Dr Guangyu Chen

Work position: Research Fellow in Additive Manufacturing
Category: Researchers

Guangyu started his PhD at Cranfield University in 2018 as part of the NEWAM project. His research focused on the development of the Multi-energy source (MES) system, which involves the characterization of energy sources and bead shape control. He received his Bachelor's from Tianjin University, China and his Master's from Harbin Engineering University, China, both in Navel and Ocean Engineering. He focused on the welding technologies for ship building during the Master's study. His master thesis (2016) was entitled Simulation of Large Ship Structure Welding Deformation Using Shell Element. He finished his PhD in Welding Engineering at the Welding Engineering and Laser Processing Centre, Cranfield University, UK in 2022. His PhD thesis title is Bead Shape Control Using Multi-Energy Source (MES) For Wire-Based Direct Energy Deposition (DED) Process.
