WAAMmat Industry Day 2021

23 November 2021 - Online event - The Welding Engineering and Laser Processing Centre at Cranfield University organised one more successful WAAMmat Industry Day.

Programme content:

  • Active projects
  • New process capabilities for AM: Multi-Energy Source (MES), Multi-wire, Peening, Rolling, CW MIG, Machinning, Hot Wire, Laser vaccum, Cryogenic cooling)
  • Digital tools: CFD, FEA models, Automated wire positioning, new sensors
  • Materials: Titanium alloys, Aluminium alloys, Nickel alloys
  • Processes: CW MIG, Peening, High deposition rate PTA, Wire Laser AM
  • Part building examples
  • Commercialisation of hardware and software for AM
  • Metal AM courses: MSc, MRes and PhD (full-time or part-time)
  • New projects and proposals
  • WAAMmat programme - future plans

Due to the current restrictions (Covid 19), the event was hosted online, and we had nearly 70 attendees, including 40 guests from the industry.

We hope next year to meet the industrial partners and other guests in person and show them the new laboratories and equipment.

The slides presented at the event will soon be available to the WAAMmat members.
