Dr Armando Caballero
I am a physical metallurgist with over 6 years of experience in additive manufacturing processes. I am developing my career in the fundamental understanding of material interaction with heat sources during different additive manufacture technologies; including both Wire + Arc Additive Manufacture (WAAM) and Selective Laser Melting (SLM). I have been responsible for the metallurgical characterisation of additively manufactured (AM) components in a wide range of projects and I have also had the opportunity to manage some of them. My role in the NEWAM programme is in the development of novel alloys within WAAM applications in order to improve mechanical performance. I’m also a part-time PhD candidate at Cranfield University. My doctorate is focused on the correlation between different processing conditions and mechanical properties obtained during AM.
