Hanxing started his PhD in September 2023 at the Welding Engineering and Laser Processing Centre, Cranfield University. His current research is mainly focused on the recycling of swarf by using it as feedstock for additive manufacturing, including process and deposition parameter optimisation. This research direction belongs to the SAM project, which is jointly undertaken by Cranfield University and the University of Manchester. He finished his previous studies in China. His research background is in the fields of wire-arc additive manufacturing, involving a variety of different metals, including aluminium alloys, nickel alloys and stainless steels. In addition, he is also familiar with equipment set-up and characterisation work.
