She holds a PhD degree in laser joining of steel to aluminium and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering. Her primary research focuses on similar and dissimilar metal joining, micro joining and laser processing, including welding, cutting, scoring and marking. At present, she is the project manager of two research programmes:
- New Wire Additive Manufacturing (NEWAM): A £6M EPSRC funded research grant aiming to develop the next generation of wire-based Additive Manufacture
- WAAMmat programme: is a rolling technology development programme at Cranfield University aiming to increase the maturity level of the Wire plus Arc Additive Manufacture (WAAM) process to enable rapid industrial exploitation.
She also plays a role in disseminating the research outputs via the research programme websites, organising and participating in events for different types of audiences (e.g. academia, industry and the local community). She also supports events organised by, or for, local schools to promote the STEM curriculum and encourage the future generation to study STEM subjects.
